Making preparations is one of the best things you can to do keep it all from becoming mind-boggling. If you are moving into your first apartment, here is a list of five things you should be aware of before you get settled in. 1) Don’t be Afraid to Ask Questions before signing any paperwork. A lease is a legal, binding agreement between parties. Oftentimes, the language can seen complicated and the terms might not be clear. Or, maybe, you notice something in the contract that disturbs you after you read through it. Perchance you see something in the initial walk-through that you would like to know more about. A good landlord would rather have you walk away with the answers and not signing a lease than see you sign it and have issues at a later date because you were puzzled about something in the beginning and never asked for clarification. On move-in day in Houston, before you get caught up in the craziness of moving in all of your possessions, request the landlord to do an inspection of the apartment to look for damages or any other pre-existing issues that might have been overlooked when they were prepping it for you.
